The 28th General Synod of the United Church of Christ, on July 5th, approved two groundbreaking denominational resolutions supporting "The Right of LGBT Persons to Adopt and Raise Children" and"International Human Rights Related to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity." The UCC is the first mainline protestant denomination to pass such clear and substantive policies on these two particular issues.
