Gays disproportionately targeted for hate crimes, report finds

Gays and lesbians are more at risk for becoming hate crime victims than any other group, according to a report by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The overall number of hate crimes declined in 2009, compared with the year before; more than 18% of reported incidents were based on sexual orientation, according to FBI statistics.
